Audi: Using 3D configurator in dealerships

Audi announced today that they already have a 3D configurator live in some German dealerships (500 dealerships to come and a worldwide rollout.

Customers can start a configuration in the internet and are able to proceed in the dealership on a 46 inch TV together with the salesman.

The system was developed by rtt and “Büro am Draht”. Press release from Lothar Korn who changed some years ago from Mercedes to Audi says: “„Der Kunde muss sich nicht mehr auf seine Vorstellungskraft verlassen: Eine perfekte 3-D-Simulation zeigt ihm seinen Audi bis ins kleinste Detail – noch bevor er gebaut wird“.

The system should support the sales of the growing model line (42 in 2015) and should show the vehicles already before the market introduction where usually only a few big dealerships have the new model available to show it to the customers.

Mercedes-Benz uses a similar information tool on big flat screens with touch screen for information. But it is not a full configurator but regular product information.
