According to the latest reports, it appears that Porsche will price the 918 Spyder at $630,000, which means that the new hybrid supercar from the German manufacturer will be more expensive than the Carrera GT.

For its new vehicle which will be its most expensive model, Porsche says that over 2,000 potential buyers expressed their interest for the supercar. For those who don’t know, the 918 Spyder is one of three hybrid models Porsche presented at the Geneva Auto Show in March. The car is powered by a V8 engine capable to deliver 500 hp but also by two electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle with an overall mechanical output of 218 horsepower (160 kW). This means that the car delivers a total output of over 700 hp which can push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed limited electronically to 320 km/h (198 mph). The new car promises to deliver a fuel consumption of just 3 (three) liters/100 kilometers (equal to approximately 78 mpg U.S.), outstanding for a sports car and will deliver just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer. “The Spyder will become Porsche’s new supercar showpiece project,” said Stefan Bratzel, director of the Center of Automotive at the University of Applied Sciences in Bergisch- Gladbach, Germany. “It unites Porsche’s high-performance engineering with intelligent drive technology.”
