Audi A4 2.0 TDI Does 53 MPG

Audi released a new version of the popular A4 here in Germany equipped with an ultra-efficient 2.o liter TDI diesel engine. This new A4 which is available as both sedan and Avant variants, uses only 4.4 liters of diesel per 100 km or 53.46 US mpg (Avant 4.6 liters -51.13 mpg), with CO2 emissions of 115 grams per km (185.07 g/mile), while developing 100 kW (136 hp) and 320 Nm (236.02 lb-ft) of torque, which is fairly enough for a family car such as the A4.

The performance is not that bad either, 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.5 seconds but the car can eventually reach a top speed of 215 km/h. These numbers for the Avant version are 9.8 seconds and 208 km/h.

The two new A4 models use the technologies from Audi’s modular efficiency platform. All the gear ratios of their six-speed manual transmissions were lengthened slightly, and the forged 16-inch alloy wheels are shod with 206/60 tires that have been optimized with respect to rolling resistance. Aerodynamic tweaks to the body and a lower ride height improves the drag coefficient, while the on-board computer with efficiency program gives the driver tips about when to shift and on fuel-efficient driving.

The Audi A4 2.0 TDI sedan is priced at €31,600 in Germany, while the Avant starts from €33,250.
