Audi A9 planned for a 2015 release

Reports say the Audi A9 will combine many elements from all luxury Audi sedans, mainly the A7 Sportback due to its swooping, sporty personality. It will be built on Volkswagen’s modular building block (MSB) platform, also shared with Porsche’s Panamera, some Bentleys and Lamborghinis.

The car will also get a range of powertrains also seen in the Audi A7 Sportback range, such as the 3.0-litre turbo diesel right up to a V8 hybrid with a combined power output of over 380kW.

Other features include a modern, almost futuristic body design echoing Audi R8 elements, such as the aggressive front end. The A9 will also be available in either rear-wheel drive and four-wheel forms, like the Porsche Panamera.

Don’t get too excited just yet, the Audi A9 isn’t expected until some time in 2015.
