MTM tuned Audi R8 with 777 HP and mirror finish

MTM has worked wonders on the R8 to create this 777 horsepower, twin-turbo rocket that can more or less match any car on the planet at the track. But you kind of know the headlines are going to center on that blinding polished finish.

This is no cheap chrome wrap. The car was stripped to the bare aluminum and polished to a bright luster that harks back to the 1991 Avus Quattro concept. It took 700 man hours to finish and by the time the car returned from Top Marques Monaco, it needed another buff up. In short, this mirror finish is a total nightmare and as we drive it an MTM representative watches through their fingers, a single stone chip would mean a new panel.

We don’t chip it and the end of our drive brings a sigh of relief from MTM, and a string of expletives from us. Because get past the mirror finish so bright it casts white shadows all over the road, and this thing is just incredible. Although at $575,000, it had better be.

With 655 lb-ft of torque to go along with that 777-hp, this car is just epic. MTM says it storms through the 60 mph mark in 3 seconds flat, which is conservative if you ask me, and keeps going all the way to 224 mph. The most impressive thing, though, is how sorted this car feels. Too many tuner cars that have been taken to this extreme feel nervous, jittery and just a little bit intimidating.

Not this one. You really could use this every day, but you’ll spend a fortune on polish
