Volkswagen Golf GTE Coming

It has been reported that VW will introduce a new performance variant of the Golf named the GTE.
With 'E' standing for electric, this plug-in hybrid will use the same powerplant as Audi A3 e-tron. Power will come from a 1.4L turbo four-cylinder connected with an electric motor for a total output of 204hp. The numbers for the GTE aren't great, but moderate for a hybrid. 0-62mph will take 7.6 seconds with the 6-speed DSG transmission and it will have a top speed of 135mph. Similar to the GTD, performance will only come from the GTI sourced parts including suspension, brakes, interior, and exterior styling.
It is expected to hit the market next year (2015), for Europe only at this time.

New Race Inspired VW Golf R Evo Coming?

The latest intel says that VW will debut a new extreme model named the Golf R Evo at the Beijing Motor Show. Based on the 'Carbon Edition' GTI it will feature carbon fiber body panels, rear seats replaced with a roll cage, carbon-ceramic brakes, and race style front seats for a lighter more nimble version. Total weight reduced will be around 440 pounds or more, and the engine will get a bump above the 300hp. While retaining AWD, the 0-60 time will be less than 4.9 seconds. It is also expected that a more aggressive body styling will accompany this new Golf R Evo. We will know more in April when this 'concept' debuts.

Audi S1 Confirmed for Debut

Audi has officially said they will reveal the all new S1 in March at the Geneva motor show. Sources suggest it has the same 2.0L TFSI from the S3 while producing 230hp and quattro AWD. (S1 rendering above)
With the S1 coming, does this mean the RS1 is close behind? There is plenty of evidence to support that claim, but only time will tell.

Audi Allroad Shooting Brake Concept - TT in Disguise?

The new Allroad Shooting Brake Concept has some impressive numbers with 402hp via hybrid e-tron and 124mpg.
However, the most interesting part of this concept is the styling. Audi did say that it previews the next TT (which will be revealed in March). If you remove the allroad features, lower it, and round out the end of the roofline, we are left with a rough idea for the new 2015 TT. The concept even has the recently debuted TT dash with the all-digital instrument cluster. Check out the rendering below from X-Tomi Design, and judge for yourself.

The New Porsche 911 Targa

The highly anticipated 911 Targa was revealed recently, bringing back a little nostalgia. The iconic fishbowl rear window and classic B-Pillar crossbeam from the 60's has returned. This new 991 model however is all about convenience, as it drops its top with the push of a button.
It will be available in both Targa 4 and Targa 4S, featuring AWD (of course) and engines ranging from 3.4L flat-six (345hp) and 3.8L flat-six (395hp). 0-60mph times with PDK are 4.6 seconds for the Targa 4, and 4.2 seconds for the Targa 4S.

Audi R8 e-tron Officially Coming!

Audi has confirmed that the R8 e-tron will finally reach production.
If you recall the model was very close previously, but at the last minute pulled because of costly batteries. With the help of new/modified batteries the project will be complete. No details were given about the new batteries, but the R8 e-tron will have a driving range up to 400 km (248 miles) on a single charge. It is rumored that it could launch in late 2014 as a 2015 model.
Audi's technical chief Ulrich Hackenberg did say "electric drive has a big future", which prompted why they kept the push to produce this car.

Audi is showing the interior of the next TT at CES in Las Vegas. While it looks very close to the current TT, the updates are in the details.

First feature to stand out is the new all-digital instrument cluster. There will be two display modes including the 'classic' with speedo, rev, fuel, and temp. The second will feature the 'infotainment' view with smaller instruments and the focus on navigation and media.

In effort to keep the interior simplistic as possible, the AC/Heat air controls are now located in the vents. Also, the controls for heated seats and temperature are there as well with small LED displays.
